    Default Greetings!

    Hi all!

Wish I'd found this forum earlier but better late than never!

I'm one of six kids and was raised strict roman catholic until the age of 10 when my father committed suicide. After that my mother discovered the assemblies of god and converted to evangelism dragging myself and my siblings along with her.

I used to believe a strongly as she still does but doubts started to creep in by my mid teens. I didn't really do anything about them except for not going to church after my family moved interstate in 1993.

After a while I met my future wife and we started talking kids. Wife mentionted getting the kids baptised and I straight out said no. I then started to realise that not only would it be hypocritical but I wasn't so sure I believed in what I was raised to. I became something of a deist for a while and eventually married via a civil service.

I was really kicked into gear after a birthday phone call from my mum which was as brief as "Happy birthday, if you don't get saved, you're going to hell."

A colleague then suggested looking up the venerable Professor Richard DAWKINS and it all went rocketing along from there. I have since spent many pleasant hours educating myself on the fallacies of faith and the religion that accompanies it and have never felt more free or in control of my destiny.

I'd love to meet up with others who have been through similar experiences and would also love to find a way to help those who are on the brink of giving up their faith by learning the same things I did.

That's the short version but looking forward to conversing with many of you!

    Cheers,
    Hubie.
