Default Have you formally left, or tried to leave, the Catholic Church?

Melbourne author and columnist Monica Dux is researching a book about lapsed Catholic identity and is keen to talk to anyone who may have formally left the Catholic Church via the Formal Act of Defection, which was part of Canon Law between 1983 and 2009.

She’d also love to hear from anyone who has actively tried to separate from the Catholic Church, via official channels, such as sending a letter to the parish where they were baptised, or contacting the Church directly.

She can be reached via email at mmdux@bigpond.net.au
