    Thank you Mr Black. Knew Scott was a Howard appointee, but had not only forgotten about him; never knew of his evangelics connection. But that explains it.

    No problem, GPF. By the way, it was the Exclusive Brethren (Bruce Hales' lot) who had Johnny Howard by the purse-strings.

    Michael Bachelard, who has posted here at times, wrote a decent book on 'em.

    Nope. There's "open" Plymouths too. Exclusives, as your link states, are a subset.

    If you'd ever had the misfortune to track the goings-on under his watch, the evangelical connection would be glaringly obvious. He's a firm believer that ethics is an outgrowth of and reliant upon religion, and he's not ashamed to engage in flagrant intellectual dishonesty to support the notion.

    Thank you, Geoff, for making me feel derelict in not following the religious usurping of our beloved public broadcaster.

    Unfortunately I can't be entirely surprised that neither Kevie nor Julia had the balls to take him down.

    Sorry, mate. I didn't mean it to come across as criticism. My apologies.

    All good, Geoff. I deserve a smackdown for not being fully across that situation.

    @GPF - It's (hopefully) not about smackdowns.

    If the facts win, we all win.

    What use is conflict for its own sake?

    That all sounds very Dalai Lamaish. I grew up having to fight for everything, so I tend to use language that reflects that. Not always being literal.

    In this case, the facts as laid out here make not one iota of difference. Someone has to act on those facts.
