Oh my god the man is a dill. He wont be leader, Turnbull's polls improved today. He's by far the best option on that side of the house, obviously imo.

We'll see. I may be in error, but I think he probably will be. When they get desperate enough.

    One poll.

    That's just noise.

    The signal has been unmistakable.

IMO, Turnbull's goose is cooked. Although, the meal may take a year or so to be served. And I have to acknowledge that a week is a long time in politics.

    I like my idea better.

Malcom won't want to lose his Big Chair, so he will call an early election.
Then Bill the Dill will realize he's a nuff nuff and let Penny Wong have the Second Biggest Chair.
Then she will win the early election, and save the world.
    The end.
    It could happen.

    Wot could go Wong?

Penny Wong as PM would be great, mind you. She as a working brain, which is good. But the downside is that she has a working brain!

The WA result has given Labor some momentum, but I am not sure how that will translate to the National level. Dutton might be just what Labor needs to win the next election. Despite the polls, Turncoat is likeable, but he is inconsequential. He will bend to the more to the right [he is already], because he thinks its cool to be PM. And if I was the "brains trust" of the Liberal Party, I would put Julie Bishop in the top job. She is right wing enough to satisfy most, has brains, and can be a good attack dog when the need arises.

Ideology aside [and associated funding issues, like foreign aid], she hasn't done a bad job as Foreign Minister. Anyway, she comes across as a serious player, even if one disagrees with her politics. Turncoat is a dilettante, and Dutton has the personality of a dead fish.

Cori Bernardi is a "strong leader", in an ISIS sort of way, but we don't need to worry about him because he has taken his marbles and gone done playing with himself now.

Just stick to the idea that science tests falsifiable hypotheses to destruction.

If Peter Dutton becomes PM, it means that the end of the world is nigh and I'll form my own damn political party, because fuck.

Yet, to paraphrase what we often say to visiting theists, just because you like an idea doesn't make it so.

He's done that once . That worked out so well for him last time . Not. I suppose it worked out better for him in the short term than if he'd waited , but ...

I don't think that strategy will be viable a second time.

I think he's the man everyone, me especially, have systemically underestimated. At time, perhaps I was were right be cautious of him, based on his some of his past. Yet, to date, he has so far exceeded anything I expected of him. His team appears to be united and -at least superficially- to have learned from their recent Rudd/Gillard/Rudd past. As even some in the Murdocracy appear to realise - Kelly's article was my favourite, too! - I think "the left" has pulled together somewhat, energised and united by the advance of the Trumpists, Hansonites, Benrardists, Abetzites and their ilk. In some (but, IMO, so far, not enough) significant respects this has pulled Shorten left along the way. Having long under-estimated him, I'm prepared to give him an opportunity.

She's absolutely wonderful, and would be my choice in a flash, but she's in the wrong chamber, with no apparent way to do a Luke Foley.

As those without working brains fuck more up, we shall see whether or not that remains a downside. One can hope.

You are nothing like the "brains trust" of the Liberal Party.

    If they have one ...

    No, she decidedly is not.

The right wing regards her as being even worse than Turnbull.

IMO, she has next to no chance of being replacing Turnbull.
