    A how to guide!
Of course nothing will come of it in a legal sense. The tax departments notoriously are apologetic when exposing tax avoidance and always happy to cut a deal like some grovelling creditor

And those who have the most money can also hire the best lobbyists to ensure that no laws are ever enacted to prevent them from squirrelling away all the money.

The answer to the question in the OP is because that is the way that the system is designed. Generation, reproduction, and intensification of inequality is the goal of the system and attempts to reduce inequality (for example through the prohibition of slavery) are just a part of a much bigger battle which must be one if inequality is ever to begin to be addressed.

Seriously, 14 numbers? The only difference? FFS .

Abortion rights, defence of Roe v Wade, separation of church and state, representation of non-white-cis-straight-males in positions of power, climate change, defence of the environment in many other respects. I'm barely getting started.

It's easy to accept criticism of the Dems, and Labor for that matter, for embracing neoliberalism far too much.

But that type of batshit-bollocks-bullshit-meme needs to be called out for what it is: False.

I interpreted the post as referring to corporate influence, and I'll stick by the "like" in that regard.

As I've said, on the matter of neoliberalism, I agree.

That said, that's not what the word "only" means.

Blue Lightning, I too read that quote as referring to the only difference between the Democrats and Republicans when it comes to serving their corporate sponsors/masters.

The phrasing does leave it open to interpretation though. I would guess that it was part of a broader speech in which the context was more obvious (I will see if I can find out).

    I agree with BL's clarification.

    Dammit, a cheap meme ruined.
