Default Sloths are cool - distraction ahead.

After recent correspondence with the sloth handled forum members, and a sloth heavy episode of SGU, I have soths on the brain.
Last night I dreamt I was showing some friends around the Bellarine Peninsula. Among the wildlife we enountered was a sloth. I remember wondering what the thing was doing in Australia. I have been trying for months to train myself to recognise when I am dreaming and my focus on shifts in written content in my dreams let me miss this obvious cue. Driving on, in my dream, oblivious to the adventures on offer to the lucid dreamer, I put on a tape (my car has a tape deck) of the Pixies and the song "Sloths are cool" eventually came on. Usually I find everything the Pixies did unassailably cool, but this time their contribution to the road trip became embarrassing as I realised my passengers weren't into it. Then I realised I wasn't into it (my second missed lucid dreamer cue - the Pixies are cool).
Waking, I realised my dream brain had taken Lou Reed's "Satellite of Love" and changed the phrase to "Sloths are cool" which doesn't scan, and turned everything else in the lyric to "la la la la la," which works for the Pixies on "La la love ya," but which I doubt anyone could get away with a second time. It was horrible and I hope that by inflicting an unscannable Lou Reed inflected "Sloths are cool" to the tune of "Satellite of Love" on fellow atheists I have gone some way to removing this ghost ear worm from my mental ears, as it is driving me to distraction.

    You thought it.
    You can't unthink it.

I heard the SGU podcast last week and have been meaning to send Rebecca Watson a thank you post, just haven't got off my arse yet! Then sloth-kind featured in a book I read on the weekend, the sloth profile is on the rise! (slowly )

Sloths are cool, but the Frankenstein's song my brain assembled to celebrate this fact was not.

Have you considered a Homeopathic principle? Find another ear worm that has a similarly nauseating effect and use it as a cure.
Or maybe just blast yourself with some of the real Lou Reed for a bit.

I have no requirement for the supernatural or magic to explain anything, finding purpose in life other than trying to enjoy it, fantasies to explain wonder, fear that reason might trivialise me, or demand of wonders greater than those that are evident.

I've always found this works to get rid of other earworms:

    Love that song.
    Nice one, Mr B.

The video song exhibits gene transfer from the Bradypodidae Bunch:

I saw it on the branch
It looked quite like a sloth:
    'Twas either half-asleep
    Or it had nodded off,
And so I asked the lo-
    Cal Zo-o-lo-gy Prof....
    (Oh-a Oh-a)

    He said that he knowed
    (Oh-a Oh-a)
    That it was three-toed

    Chorus:
    Sloths are so cool
    They actually are!
    Sloths are so cool
    They actually are!
In a tree, or in your car,
Or in a Nat'ral History jar,
This song has gone on much too far....

(Please get my coat. It's the one with the egg and fruit stains.)

    = Happy Busker.
My day is made and it's only early.
