Hi Atheist Forum Goers,

You may have received an email from the AFA about our this already. I am the producer of Parrot and we are currently seeking support from like-minded atheists who are sensitive to our cause.

Parrot is a short film about a young atheist in a strictly Catholic family who, when faced with the death of his elder brother, is forced to confront his parents about his faith.

This film is an honest portrayal of the effect religion can have on personal relationships and aims to promote understanding and tolerance towards those without faith and show the world that there is nothing amoral about being godless.

Myself and Director, Craig Foster, are both passionate atheists who have been working on this script for almost a year and have begun raising funds to get the film made. So far nearly $10,000 has been raised including $2500 from the Atheist Foundation of Australia. But we still have a long way to go so any contribution you can make will be greatly appreciated and will help get the film seen all over the world.

You can contribute to Parrot online via this link:

This round of funding closes this coming Monday 18th October.

Thanks and may reason be with you!
Emma

Emma,

The Atheist Foundation of Australia is proud to sponsor ‘Parrot’. It epitomises how Atheism can affect interrelations in the community. Even though it only covers one aspect of living with people who are religious, its message will reach out to others in like situations and maybe help bring a positive outcome for them.

As the subject is death, a very well chosen one in my opinion as it is the ultimate time when true emotions surface from deep within, the film reveals to believers that not even a close confrontation with death alters the Atheist mindset. It also shows the torment inherent in Atheism of not wishing to upset loved ones. As well as that, even though this may not be a majority outcome, it demonstrates that religious folk can accept an Atheist outlook.

I commend Emma and her team for making this short film and wish it every success. For those of you with spare money looking for a worthy cause, I recommend you think about helping out financially with ‘Parrot’.

One of the reasons for being in the Atheist Foundation of Australia and indeed, being a member of the AFA Forum is after all, an acknowledgment that Atheism offers a way for humanity to cooperate and survive. This is one way that message can be spread without having to lift a finger. How easy is that!
