Just for you davo...I've changed the colour....the text has to stay as my PC will not let me change it.

thank you for your lovely story vegie. Your grandfather sounds like a lovely man.
I have recently discovered that there are people in existence who are anti comic sans. It is cute and fun, what is the problem? I find it friendly. :)
I don't mind Comic Sans. But I abhor Times New Roman!

The text should not identify itself, you should read without noticing it, that is a good typeface for the medium.
Comic sans goes right against that, the letters do not flow at all. All comic sans does is give a feel good 'hey I'm different' to the person using it ;)
As Vonnie points out, kinda, on computer screens you want to go for a font without a serif too. It makes your eyes weary. In print format, it is ok, leading the eye onto the next letter, but clutters when you have light projected around the letters, as on a screen or tv.
</end rant over fonts > ;) hehe

It's arguable, there's a lot of conflicting studies, but generally serif fonts are confined by pixels on a monitor, so they can look weird, and also strain the eyes, sans-serif seem to be so much better, and you can see this if you look around the net, and what people are using. It is easier to identify the letters quickly.
Saying that, it's personal preference, I am just a bugger that cops doing really nice websites for folk, give them a WYSIWYG editor, and the first thing they do is change all the text to comic sans, and all the headings into different colours, thereby totally devoiding themselves of any legitimacy or professionalism. It's like targetting 5 yo kids, not even teenagers
If they wanted a myspace looking website, they should have used myspace ;)
