I was working for a horse trainer in the 1970's and he had a contract with Iran to supply animals to the racing industry that was just getting underway at the time. The thing that made me laugh, was that only geldings were being sent to Iran. A pretty good trick really. The Iranians were unable to use the geldings in a breeding program, so they had to keep coming back to Australia for more racehorses until the contract had run its course.
Then the Shah was deposed and that was the end of that...
