Upgrade time.

As the tittle suggests it is upgrade time for my desktop... well basicly it stopped working last night, so i've decided to bite the bullet and upgrade the f$!&er.
Most of the viscera is about 4 years old now. it is still a single core...:o

the only thing I think I can salvage is perhaps the p.s.u, cd-dvd burner and perhaps use the old 80gig hdd as a backup utility.

Anyway, it has been a long time since i was up to date in regards to computers and what not.

I'm not looking at spending a huge amount, I just need it for uni, web, and the usual music/video editing.

Any suggestions on mobo's, chipsets and cpu's?

if your making one to use for gaming make sure you get a graphics card that supports pixel shader 3.0

Not sure about the whole gaming thing, sadly I don't get much time for it anymore. I'm checking out the usual places atm, (website comparisons between mobo's and cpu's) trying to get the most bang for my buck atm.
