I get this error message when I try to use Firefox.

The proxy server is refusing connections

Firefox is configured to use a proxy server that is refusing connections.

* Check the proxy settings to make sure that they are correct.

* Contact your network administrator to make sure the proxy server is
working.

Google Chrome is fine.

I am not using Tor or any other proxy server.

PS My Windows 7 experiment has ended, and I've reinstalled XP (which I like better anyway) I received a rude notice from Microsoft saying my Windows 7 was not genuine,so I couldn't have any more updates. Fucking cheek!

Have you checked your proxy settings anyway?

I just did. There WAS a proxy setting. I changed it to 'no proxy' and it now works fine.

I tried adding Tor button and it doesn't like it.

I'm looking at a proxy switching add on which changes your proxy every 30 minutes. In need to learn how to configure it.
