I have a paper jam on my laser printer (Samsung CLT ,315) inside the printer.

I followed the instructions and the the paper tore. It's wrapped around the roller. You can see when you lift the inside lid and paper guide over the roller..

Last time it was under warrantee,so I took it back to Dick Smiths, who sent it back to Samsung, who fixed it in only 2weeks (!) does

Anyone have any ideas?

I dunno have you tried pulling the paper out?

A couple of days ago I looked at this thread and thought, "Try a different printer and one you don't buy from Dick Smith." but it seemed unhelpful in the context.

My thoughts have not changed much though.

Perhaps you should take it back to DS armed with the previous warranty claim and tell them it is a repetition of the same fault, demanding free service. If they do not promptly agree, jump up and down. Sometimes they will do what you want just to get a quiet life.

Seamus, is there an opening at the back of the printer as well? If so, try opening the back and seeing if you can see the roller and the bits of paper still in there.

Also, take the toner cartridge out - that will let you see more closely inside as well.

In my experience (working in offices since I was 17, for my sins  ), with persistence you can usually get those pesky torn bits out eventually, with some patience. You can manually roll the roller around and bit by bit the torn pieces should come out.

Good luck!

As I said,I followed the instructions, and the paper tore.

Solution; new printer from Office supplies at @$166. It works out cheaper than paying someone to fix the old one because of the cartridges which are worth over $100 and the new 1 year warrantee. Plus, plus the old cartridges are still about 1/3 full. It would cost anything from $50 and up to get the old one fixed.

My annoying vestigal Catholic guilt has kicked in at being so wasteful.

Bugger the instructions - I don't think I've ever looked at a set of instructions for a printer or a photocopier in my life. But I've always managed to clear paper jams and torn bits. Just sayin' :)

All the best with your new printer Seamus. It is a bit wasteful I suppose but then again, small printers these days are fairly disposable I guess, with many costing less than their ink cartridges.

Currently I'm the proud owner of a Samsung colour laser printer CLP-610ND and not one problem yet.

lol @ Protium.

Perhaps a nice large hammer will forever fix your old printer.
