Bikie speculation.

Any of you guys in Sydney would know about the rise in problems with various Sydney Bikie gangs. I was wondering if anyone was interested in giving a few thoughts regarding it? Specifically, what has puzzled me is this..

1. Police keep saying that they are involved in various drug trafficing. If this is the case, why has it never been stopped?

2. Are police scared of these gangs?

3. One gang recently had one very big clean up of headquarters mysteriously before a police raid happened three days later. Is there some kind of synergy going on here under the table?

4. They seem to frequently have weapons yet the police don't seem to have real regular searches going on why is that?

anyone know anything or willing to speculate?

There are almost certainly enough laws to cover any possible crimes involved in any business to do with the motorcycle people. Most states also have laws covering "consorting".


Yes I know I am very naive, that was the very thing that was of interest to me enough laws exist to deal with the problem so why isn't it ever dealt with?

nothing works as described on paper,
* people are not incorruptible,
* fear, money, power and other motivators are at play:
what do you reckon are the chances of information and loyalties crossing the defined boundaries?


I think a very great chance, so is there a reason this has never been explored in a larger way in Australia ?

Good question, I think a lot of it has to do with hard evidence to support the claims, bikie gangs have their own lawyers so there is protection of them in that regards, and since they get paid the big bucks, they would look for as many loopholes in the system as they can.

I would say there would be, corruption in the police force has been going on for quite sometime so no doubt there would be some things swept under the rug

Can't speculate on that as I don't know what weapons they have legally and illegally but I have seen reports on bikie raids from time to time so maybe there has been regular searches and we just don't know about them.

If you are really interested, the book, The Brotherhood, was written by Arthur Veno, an academic I worked with a few years back, who got really involved in the Community Psychology of these gangs.

Organised crime is rife throughout many sectors of society, and the 1%ers are just one of these I guess....

I'm sure the god squad would never stoop so low!
