Now I know I'm an atheist, and I'm sure many of you know that too.

But I must admit that there's this strange thing that some people have noticed me doing, and since then I have also noticed that.

I have this unusual tendancy to blame everything on God whenever something bad happens. I must admit, I do not know why I do that, and to me it seems kind of irrational to do so.

For example "gnagnagnagna stupid loving god makes me allergic to fluoro lights gnyagnyagnya stupid high power fluoros gnya gna gna gna..."

I wonder if anybody else has a similar problem, even though they don't believe in any gods, still blame things on a god.

I'm not sure whether this is a good thing or a bad thing though, at least not 100% - but to me it seems kind of stupid and I suspect I may be making an arse out of myself.

So do you think I should get rid of this habit and if so how can I go around doing it?

Try word substitution to begin with like substitute the word God, for shit.

If something goes wrong it means something really shitty has happended to you. Seems to me invoking the name of god or jesus is fitting.

Try word substitution to begin with like substitute the word God, for shit.Errm... so in my example it would be "gnagnagnagna stupid loving shit makes me allergic to fluoro lights gnyagnyagnya stupid high power fluoros gnya gna gna gna..." then?

Works for me. I've been saying "Fuck!" or "Fuck Me!" for about 30 years. But to be perfectly honest, these days I'm just as likely to say " Fuck You!".:D

Croc, do you still say in "Insha' Allah"? If not, there's hope.

Croc, do you still say in "Insha' Allah"? If not, there's hope.I'll be honest, it was a rare moment that I ever said that in the first place. I haven't said that for around 11-12 years now. I must admit I tend to use the word "God" more than "Allah" for some reason. Or rather "this god" too.

And you would think that 100Hz should be enough to avoid the flickering...

Yes, TEVW went into an optical store yesterday, and I simply could not stay there. There were some funny fluoros that were almost wobbling.

There's some blue non-LED display lighting in one of the local Dick Smith stores that guarantees I don't shop there, too.At the risk of going off topic, I also have more of the "wobbling" problem than the "flickering" problem particularly with newer lights and CCFL lights (I can't wait to get my lenses) and it seems the older I get the worse I get.

Funny enough, the last time I went into a train cabin, there was an old light that was flickering like mad, and almost made me fall down the stairs and I felt as if I was going to get a heart attack.

Oh well I guess I'll just blame it on this god again. Oh wait... ;)

Speaking of lights....I hate flouros and always have.

Then again, I am not at all keen on bright sunlight either; I love overcast days. I want to live in Iceland (when the volcano has stopped spewing)....my BH notes I am saying 'bloody sun' more often these days.

Trouble is, I feel weird wearing sunnies in the shopping malls. But when I do, rarely, people do avoid bumping into me! ;)

My BH says 'god help me/us' quite often when reading the newspapers. It's funny, coming from an atheist.

nariI sometimes wonder if I got into that habit after having a few debates like this with around 2-3 Christian sheople. Maybe this is a "nudge-nudge wink-wink" thing (didn't understand what that meant until I saw a related Monty Python skit)

I don't blame 60d, I prefer to blame the believers. ;)
