Got this in my letter box today. Perth atheists with nothing to do on Sunday afternoon might like to go along for a laugh.

Free Seminar
Is evolution scientifically credible?

Speaker: Dr Allan Harrison
Associate Professor of Science and Bible Student.

With the 150th anniversary of Charles Darwin's book 'The Origin of Species', there is a lot of discussion about evolution vs creation.

Dr Allan Harrison, scientist and Bible student, speaks on this hot topic from both sides of the fence.

There are logical reasons for questioning the scientific basis of evolution. Consider the following:

There is no evidence for the formation of any new species of plant or animal.
If new species take centuries to form, we cannot experimentally observe their formation.
Viruses and bacteria mutate and become more infections but still cause the same diseases.
Scientific theories but be testable - evolution cannot be tested therefore it is not scientific.

The evolution of the species is as much a matter of faith as the Genesis creation!

Please join us as we explore this fascinating topic: 6pm Sunday 15th March, Bassendean Community Hall, 48 Old Perth Road, Bassendean.

Hosted by the christadelphians www.christadelphians.com

The theory of evolution is not true science

I'm glad I can't go in a way. I know I would eventually get so mad I would start heckling and probably get thrown out. I hope someone will go and heckle (in an educated way!) though - if these dipsticks are going to stick their fairy-tale trash in mailboxes they deserve what they get!

Hell Girl hi,

*GACK* The bloody christadelphians! I recieve these in my letterbox all the time!
I have been to a christadelphian talk night that tried to debunk Dawkins God Delusion. I live in sth east subs of melbourne close to 2 christadelphian churches (bloody 2 too many!). It was largely an excercise in futility, there were christadelphians and a few atheists. The only reason to go would be to catch anyone who is neither and I doubt that there are many undecided christadelphians.
The bloke who gave the talk was not a scientist his only claim was that he had read the God Delusion. I spoke to him after the talk and he explained that most of his time was taken up with studying revelations as they are in all effect a doomsday cult who believe that the apocalypse is imminent.

Interesting it doesn't say what sort of scientist he is, certainly not in the field of biology as his bullet point claims either make him a liar or someone who exhibits extreme intellectual dishonesty.

If any of you do decide to go I suggest you visit Talk Origins as there are several pages that clearly demonstrate

The evidence for the formation of any new species of plant or animal.
How we can and have experimentally observed the formation of new species
How evolution is most definitely is testable.

I've just been to the CQU site but Allan Harrison doesn't appear on the faculty list.

Quite right Mr Black may not be him, however if it is none of these qualifications make him a scientist. They are teaching qualifications and NOT for teaching actual science either.

He's probably got some dodgy PhD from a bible college. Perhaps he bought it off the internet.
