Alrighty. Well I did give it a shot. To my friend from AoC, thank you for inviting me. It has been...interesting to say the least. Athiesm, although I feel has much to teach me, my methods of learning will have to be from the outside.
While I understand that most of the members of this forum, are highly intelligent people, there is no doubt, that being labled (and properly so) a believer in a supreme being, has brought me under harsher scrutiny than I've ever experienced in my life, in such a short period. However, logically so - this is an athiest forum, and I was warned lol.
I don't feel like I'll ever really have a fair chance at proving myself to you all, and I've run out of the desire to keep trying, as when it boils down to it, nothing I do will be good enough.
Thank you all regardless, for taking the time to speak with me. If I've learned anything from this, it is that athiests in some circles will tolerate the views of others, but for those others, it likely won't be a pleasant experience lol.
I wish you all the best in life, and bid you farewell!

Just by this farewell post you are one of very few who have shown this sort of regard, even if you have not quite felt the same in return.
In spite of you feeling a bit on the outer here (maybe to say the least) every person of differing view who comes to visit but doesn't necessarily try to annoy, bait and ridicule us (yes it does happen the other way a fair amount) may have helped bridge some intolerances that do exist in some (either way).
I am hopeful that you did take some positives away with you as well.
All the best.

~Psychologic~Psychologic,
I think you were experiencing a bit more of a culture shock than anything else. This is a place where we can openly disagree and hold discussion. I hope you weren't offended by anything. It wasn't about you, was about the issues. I really don't think you've really given it a fair shake, if you're leaving so soon. With all due respect, don't you think you're being a little thin-skinned, about it. In regards to tolerance, think about what it's like for us being stuck out in G-d's country with no g-d. (I've heard some pretty ugly things from the 'Christians solders' where I live.) Anyway, I really enjoyed your time with us. I do hope you'll come back and see us. I was looking forward discussing southern life with you. You're more than welcome here. You know that.

ps: You still seem like more of a pantheist and future agnostic to me. I think you've been putting yourself in the wrong box, in many regards, for a long time. Your heritage is faith-based, just like mine. That's my point. You still see atheists as a "them." Well how many of them are just like you? I'd say quite a few, from what I've seen. Especially when they are 'new disbelievers'. You're just breaking my heart.

Bye PL - I'll get over the fact you totally ignored my responses ;)
Thanks for being respectful overall. All the best with your learnings - examine everything critically, ideally with blinkers off if you can.
Good luck :)
