Anyone using an iPhone will know what a pain it is trying to view the forums in Safari on a little screen.. constantly pinch zooming and tilting to find the best text size and angle to view.. forget about replying or adding images etc...
Well I have looked into and implemented a new application from Tapatalk.
(Big thanks to Distoman for the tip)
Tapatalk supports iPhone, iTouch, Android, Nokia and a BlackBerry version will be available very soon.
To use it install a small application from iTunes (if you have an iPhone/iTouch) called Tapatalk RO (http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/tapatalk-ro-forum-client-for/id335769233?mt=8) the free read-only version OR Tapatalk Forum Client (http://itunes.apple.com/au/app/tapatalk-forum-client-for/id307880732?mt=8) for $3.99.
I have used it for a couple of days now and find it very cool.
Here's some examples of it on my iPhone...

It will be fun during the Convention as it is easy to add camera images into a post.. expect some behind the scenes sneaky images :)

After my hard drive fritzed out this morning and most of the day was spent reconfiguring a new one and the last few hours in a frenzy of downloading programs and restoring old ones, the Tapatalk app was the only way I could check the forum at all for most of the day!
Took me a while to get the hang of it (I can be a bit slow with new programs) but I did get it and even managed to upload some pics!
I am now posting from my computer with my new hard drive but I'll definitely be using Tapatalk at the GAC. Best $3.99 I've spent recently!
Jin-oh, you don't have to have an iPhone, it's compatible with Nokia, Blackberry and some others (there's a list somewhere). Don't worry, I'll take a pic of us at the dinner and upload it :D

We'll be down to one Moderator. The others will be busy.
We can't just be expected to behave! What if theists start posting?
I'll bring the hats.

Time to party kiddies. One mod will never be able to control the pandemonium that is about to break out.

Theists might be here? Ooooh I'm scared. :D

Um, ladies and jellybeans, may I remind you of one very important fact?
While it is true that almost the entire Mod team will indeed be shaking their groove thangs at the GAC, the one Mod who will be left here in charge ...
is Mr Black.
Now really. Need I say more?

I actually don't recall saying you could leave the corner.
But since it's Friday night, life is DAMNED sweet and I'm about to sit down and eat Chinese takeaway with the love of my life and watch a no-brainer film with cute roller derby girls in it, I'm feeling magnanimous and will ignore your transgression.
And I'm sure Mr Black will be back at surface level by the time the convention rolls around and we've all left the building.
So don't think you'll be getting away with much at all ;)

I can't test this, if the AFA is willing to purchase me an iPhone I will do so immediately tho.
Can anyone else confirm this? Could it be a form of caching Roger?

Tapatalk logs in immediately as the login is stored in the iPhones Settings..
You would need to physically log out to prove it.
I have and the security is working correctly.

There was a recent update to the software that fixed a few bugs and added a search function. You need to update your iPhones app to use it.

Testing, testing... 123... Using an iPod Touch for the very first time, borrowed from a friend, listening to an old episode of "The Non-Prophets", and online via another mate's borrowed wireless router, posting whilst lying in bed. Comfortable oppulence tempered by painfully awkward & frustratingly slow forum fumbling. Hmmm... Do I really wanna buy one of these things?

How were you accessing the forum on the iPod MS? With Tapatalk it's super easy and quick to read, post, upload pics, etc. but if you were trying via Safari, then I feel your pain. It's an app that costs about $2.99 and well worth it.
I never thought I'd say this, but I'd now be a bit lost without my iPhone. I use it for work stuff as well as accessing the forum when I'm not at my desk.
If you think you'd use it for lots of things, then I say go for it. Otherwise, plenty of other good smart phones out there (Nokias will also support Tapatalk).
Cheers.

Haven't considered buying an iPhone (it'd be nice, but faaaar too expensive for me). Already have a Nokia phone but it has lots of "issues" in it's role as a media player, so I've been considering an iPod Touch 32Gb. It's either that, or I'll save for a bit longer and buy something I've ALWAYS wanted.. a laptop with wireless capability... which would DEFINITELY be more useful, but less portable. Not as good for listening to podcasts in bed.. ;)
Primary role would be for my collection of podcasts, and from what I've seen of it so far, there's a bunch of hurdles I'll have to get over there too. Eg, can't see any way so far of adding my collection of podcasts (99% in MP3 format, a few in M4A format) onto the iPod, and having them show up in the PODCAST section, and not where the music collection resides.
I HATE the iTunes software (looked at it before, felt it was too invasive and overbearing), but had to install it to talk to this borrowed iTouch 8Gb. Had major problems getting it to install on Windows XP Pro 32bit, tried 3 times before I figured out it was my firewall program (ZoneAlarm) stopping the install. Normally I'd say that a firewall that stops you from doing what you want to do isn't that it ain'tvery good software, it's that it ain't been configured properly by the user... so, my fault... but in this case, I'm blaming f&^%ing iTunes. I've got no other software that required me to drop the firewall to install it.
Second, I've been having tons of problems with my phone line, with a fairly unstable ADSL signal, audible static on the line at most times. Telstra have looked at it and the problem still ain't been resolved. Anyway, as mentioned earlier, I've tried 4 different routers on the line so far. Seems my venerable old Web Excel 4 port modem/router, which has been a total champion, is a bit picky about the quality of the signal it receives. So I'm considering upgrading. If I'm gonna do that, I might as well future-proof myself and get a modem/router with wireless capability, and preferably Gigabit LAN. But I don't have any wireless devices at all currently, soooooo...
Third factor is the Wi-Fi on the iPod Touch. My Nokia phone doesn't have Wi-Fi capability, so that'd be handy to have, especially when out and about near wireless hotspots. After seeing Prax and a bunch of others from here sending messages to the forum from the GAC in Melbourne, I thought it might be something I could use. So... would like to be able to read/check forums, post.. and wanna be able to use Skype on it, and therefore have the iPod kinda act like a phone (need to be in a hotspot, obviously).
Fourth.. wanna be able to read text files, PDFs, docs, etc.. Need additional apps for that, of course.
Fifth issue... I have no creit cards or PayPal accounts.. so have no way of paying for apps. I'd obviously be looking at what I've learned is called "jailbreaking" the iPod at some point. Dunno about affecting warranty & all that... need to learn more.
The borrowed iPhone I have has some music on it, nothing else. When I downloaded some apps to try, iTunes told me it was going to wipe all other content from the device (since it's never been synched with my PC before), and I didn't wanna do that without asking the owner. I asked him last night if he had all the stuff on the iPod on his PC, and he does, but he didn't wanna have to "go thru his collection selecting all the stuff he wants on it" again. They have 5 or 6 devices that they use with iTunes, but I'd be very surprised if it didn't remember those selections for THIS iPod for him, but I guess he doesn't know about that feature ? Seems little point if it can't remember each devices synch details - every time U plugged in a device, it's screw it up with the last devices music selection, etc..
Anyway, as a result, until I can find out how to back this thing up completely, and am amble to restore it all back to the way it currently is, I'm not allowed to synch it (and therefore test the functionality & usefulness of some apps that I'd want, etc etc). Any advice on how I could do this would be greatly appreciated (sorry.. I'm not exactly on topic for this thread).
I reeeeeeaaallly wish I could just get this bloody thing to show up as another drive in Windows Explorer.. like my mobile with it's expansion card... very simple !
Gary
PS: Yep, I used Safari, not Tapatalk.. :( First thing I'd be doing is putting my Opera browser on the iPod..
