Hi there.
I live in Sydney and will be flying to Melbourne to attend the convention. I haven't booked accommodation yet but it's likely that someone out there has and wouldn't mind sharing. Someone to pair with and talk about the sessions would be nice.
No preferences... just someone... normal.
All there is to know about me:
http://baliset.blogspot.com (my blog, and I'll probably blog the convention)
Shout out if you'd like to halve your accommodation costs!

Can't the anti Creationists Christian and the YEC'ers have their own shindig do they can "exchange views"?
Can't help but wonder why Nathan is attending the GAC at all really.
Are he and his teammates off practising their heckling somewhere? ;)

I suspect creationists who do attend are doing so for many of the same reasons that Atheist's attend, knowledge.

And what reason would that be?

I think you mistake my intentions. My previous post about Creationists attending the conference was in an attempt to make them listen to world-class speakers and then have the spotlight turned on their laughable beliefs regarding the age of the earth. I thought a delegation of Creationists could be shepherded through the conference by people like myself who want to bring them to a better mind. I concede the consensus of opinion here is that that desire is futile.
That has nothing to do with my current post, which is simply a shout out to anyone who has booked a room with room for two and who was thinking of sharing.

...AND, while I'm at it, if you had bothered to follow the link I provided to my blog, you would see I am stridently anti-creationist, having appeared on radio and TV to discuss the subject over many years.

So let me get this straight, you want to mock the belief of of creationists (mainly about the age and origin of the earth) when you state you are a Christian yourself?
I am not sure what you are trying to promote or defend... quite confusing.

You guys really are too much. All I was asking was if anyone wants to share accommodation.
This thread is not for any other purpose; to discuss my views on the Australian constitution, creationism (which again, is in my view, a lunatic fringe), or whatever.
Go over to my blog and strip me bare there, if you want. Seek me out at the convention and we'll debate until the sun comes back up - that's why I'm going! In this thread, however, I'm asking a simple question.

Been there, done that, even read your correspondence with David Malin, whose astronomy photos I greatly admire.
Not to be a name dropper (much) but I'm having dinner with this fine gentleman on monday. I look forward to a great conversation. :)

This sounds like every other theist on anybody whos beliefs are even remotely against them. Ask a Muslim and he'll tell you the Christians are nuts. Ask a YEC and he'll tell you Hinduism is retarded. Ask a Hindu and they'll laugh their ass off when you mention Christianity in front of them. But this seems to be a case of "something not right" when you mock your own beliefs.
so.. believing in a cosmic Jewish zombie that watches everything you do and will torture you for eternity if you don't have faith he exists... is normal??
Do I hear ukuleles? Don't forget that he loves you. (*plays ukulele while singing "Kumbaya" completely off key, as an accompaniment to Elvis Presley's "Devil In Disguise" as an accompaniment to some black metal*)
