I have just also booked myself in for the Saturday Night Dinner. :)

Really looking forward to it. Should be a great night.

Have many others booked themselves in for the dinner as well?

And does anybody know what the max number of people the Dinner night can seat? Is it nearly booked out as well?

Praxis

I'll be there :D

I'm going to be sitting at the RDF table/s, although I'm sure there will be much moving around and swapping of seats as the night wears on.

I'm greatly looking forward to it - should be awesome!

I incorrectly assumed that by purchasing a "full weekend pass" that the Saturday dinner would be included in that ticket....I just found out that it isn't and am deeply upset as I was looking forward to it.

I'm a very poor Uni student, so I don't know whether I can afford the extra $100 for the dinner....So I will probably be back in the hostel muching down some 66c two minute noodles

Sorry Jaimie but it pretty clearly stated the dinner wasn't included. Maybe skip a couple of uni student drink special nights and you'll be able to afford it :p

Fantastic! Me and my good lady are really looking forward to it.

I've been beginning to wonder if the whole event could've been bigger yet...but being sold out so early sends a good message ;)

Well, for a touch-up from the Holy Goosed, I'd remove my corsetry!

RDF - I assume this is the Richard Dawkins...erm F... Forum?

Been a while since I've been on RD.net... I wonder if I've missed anything?

Officially, the F does indeed stand for forum ;)

"Interesting people" is not a euphemism either. There's some really great people at these tables, some of whom I've had the pleasure of meeting before, and one of whom is a teacher at my son's school! All very nice indeed.

And how do you know you're not interesting? Anyway, it isn't a popularity contest you know - I'm not especially interesting myself, you know, but people seem to like me anyway :)

And what have you missed at RDF? Depends on the timeframe you're asking about I guess. The place is absolutely massive now - I think they nearly have more staff than we have forum members here! It's a bit too big for me now and I don't participate there the way that I used to but I will always have a soft spot for the place and I've met some fantastic people through the forum and learned a lot, that's for sure.

So I will not be 'living in interesting times' then? :)

I was nearly a teacher once... just was rubbish at biology :(

And how do you know you're not interesting?

Erm... I suppose it is all relative, I hope I am more interesting that a doorpost - but I bore the wife to tears on this atheist business, hence I am coming on my own.

And what have you missed at RDF? Depends on the timeframe you're asking about I guess.

Been over a year, maybe nearly 2... I was more on the 'front pages' than the forum to be honest - it was far too busy on the forums and I soon got lost on what was being said.

I did learn a lot, and it opened my eyes to new subjects

All good stuff

I'll be at the dinner, on my own. Does anyone know how the tables are organised? Is it just random allocation, or can you arrange to sit with people you know?

If second option does anyone have a spare seat at their table for a lonely atheist? :o

PM me your details and I'll squeeze you onto the two tables I have booked. There's currently 16 people - a nice mix of people from here and the Richard Dawkins forum.

I need your real name and your dinner ticket number.

I reckon we have room for one more :)

Hear ye hear ye!

We, (the GAC Committee) will be sending an email to all those folk who have a Dinner Pass.

It will ask if you want to have a table specifically set aside for those who have ticket/order numbers xyz.

This means if you want to sit with someone in particular you need to send us all of your ticket/order numbers. Please let it be known that there can only be 10 people at a table.

Feel free to sort yourselves out in advance.

Bear (polar/grissly/brown/black/Yogi/BooBoo) in mind that we will do our utmost to accommodate all requests...but we can not give a 100% guarantee that your wishes will be met. (It's the fallible thing.)

I'm going alone, so I hope I don't get seated as an extra person on a group table that only made it to nine. Or if I do, I hope they don't completely ignore me.

Lee, I'm going to copy/paste your post into my thread over at RDF if that's okay?

As you know, I've been collecting names and ticket numbers for months now and have already sent a list, however there are now a few recent additions. In fact I was just waiting on OzAtheist's dinner ticket number and I was done with my final list.

I guess I don't want all those people to think I haven't booked the tables and that the seating might not happen as planned :o

I'm sure everyone will be understanding though but I need to warn them in advance that there's an email coming as I have a feeling it may cause some confusion! :)

I understand there's no official dress code. Some guys are wearing suits, but not all. I think most of the women will dress up, but more 'cocktail' than formal.

Yep, I have two frocks to choose from (don't judge me!) - one cocktail length and one full length. I'm completely unsure which one to wear so of course I will bring them both with me and decide on the night :D

The hair appointment is booked for the Thursday night.

What a shame. And to think you could have sat at the tables I have booked for RDF/AFA members.

Ah well, you'll just have to look yearningly over and wish you'd PM'd me your real name and dinner ticket number so you could be added to the list ...

Will it be a stoning offence if someone just turned up for dinner in jeans and T-shirt?

I don't know how much time there will be from the conference ending on Saturday before the dinner starts. Might not be enough time to change...

Just wondering...

Don't speak such blasphemy!! If I have to leave the last Saturday session a bit early, I will make enough time to glam up!

Arrive at dinner @ 7 pm for a 7.15 pm start. Last session finishes at ?6pm I think. So if you've registered for your dinner ticket on the Friday night and your accommodation is a less-than-5-minute walk from the centre, unless you've got a younger brother who is going out this weekend as the guest of another boy, in which case, collect his note before lunch, put it in your letter after you've had your hair cut, and make sure he moves your clothes down onto the lower peg for you ... then there might be just enough time to slip into the gladrags, whack on some slap and muss the hair up artfully and totter back to the dinner where you can say "this old thing? Oh I just had this lying around at home and threw the whole look together in five minutes, but thank you, you look great too!"

:D

As for the question: you may only turn up in jeans and a t-shirt to a big dinner if you look like this:

$%*! me, it is a stoning offence - sorry I will shave and everything

and your accommodation is a less-than-5-minute walk from the centre

I booked a hotel weeks ago - I cannot remember the name of the place or where it is... got an e-mail somewhere.

I think it will be more than a 5 min walk though.

after you've had your hair cut

blasphemy!!!

I've not had a hair cut for over 10 years...

You wasn't joking about the glam-rock now were you...

Not worn make-up since my Uni days - and that was a scary night.

Pig-tails, make-up, coloured nails.. beard, dress and army boots...

I am glad I lost the photos
