The Kiwi's have made the same mistakes as the pommies.
"There definitely is no god etc"

Good on them!!

I don't think they made any mistake at all, ponde, anything you put out there to raise awareness is great news.

Sadly here in Australia we are so damn politically correct that the bus campaign will not happen.:(

At least not in the same wave as the rest of the world.

Well the signs seem to be generating some debate in the ABC comments anyway.

This got coverage on the Nine Network on "Weekend Today". However it is in the segment "What's in the News" with comments by Howard Sattler stating that this campaign is wrong and people's beliefs should be respected. He said he is Atheist.

I sent this email to him at radio 6PR Perth:

Mr. Sattler
I saw you on the "Weekend Today Show" commenting on the NZ Atheists Bus Campaign. Why should they not advertize. There are so many ad campaigns flogging Christianity, selling lies - that there is a "God". I'll bet the Churches never have to pay for those ads. We Atheists have to pay for any of our campaigns

I am a bedraggled refugee from the "Holy" Roman Catholic Church.

I am a member of Atheist Foundation of Australia and will be attending the Global Atheist Convention in Melbourne next March to hear speakers including Prof. Richard Dawkins and Phillip Adams. The Parliament of World Religions have just had a convention ath the same venue we will be at. They got about $5 million from the Government, $500,000 from the Melbourne City Council.

We applied for a grant and got NOTHING. Attendance at the PWR was poor. Our tickets are selling fast. The Gold Passes are sold out already.

To your credit you are Atheist. Help the Atheist cause.

I stand by what I said.
“Probably” is only catering to the nasty agnostics.
“There is definitely no god” why beat around the bush!
While I was following the link through the ABC I found a reference to a Tasmanian tribunal hearing
concerning the bus campaign in Tasmania.

Does anybody know how that hearing went?
What about the email address for Mr. Sadler?
I would like to “congratulate” him too?

“There is definitely no god” why beat around the bush!Remember that "probably" has a whole heap of meanings in that context.

"There is probably no God" as a concession that, yeah, we can't disprove it, but it's really unlikely.

vs

"There is probably no God". There is also "probably" no orbiting teapot, "spoon", fairies, unicorns or holy meatballs.

Plus, it gives us all a chance to laugh at people who say "see - even they aren't convinced of their stance!"

Using the word probably would not be an issue for me - as I don't feel the need to control anyone's beliefs. I just feel the need to control how their beliefs affect me.
