Hi everyone,
I really wanted to get an idea for how many people would be interested in picking up an Australian copy of Religulous on either DVD or Blu-ray?

The production of this is currently in the works and its expected to release around the same time as the convention. I have made the company releasing the DVD aware of the convention and am hopeful they will do some form of promotion in tandem with the convention. I'm hoping at the very least they will have the DVD available to sell to convention attendees.

I'm just curious if this would be well received, as I know I was a big fan of the movie myself.

I previously downloaded the movie as I could not find an Aussie zone version of the DVD to purchase. I might be interested in a 'hard copy' for future reference.

I suggest you contact Readings Books and Music (http://www.readings.com.au/)which is the official bookseller for the Convention and tell them of your interest in buying the Religulous DVD at the Convention.

I think it's a fabulous idea!

You might like to thank them for their support of the Convention too. ;-)

I'm in direct contact with the company. As it turns out they weren't aware of the March convention but they seemed quite interested in the prospect of doing some kind of promotion when I brought it to their attention.

I started this thread to see how accurate my gut feeling was that this would be an ideal audience to make the movie available to.

I would love to see it available at the convention. Does anyone know why it has taken so long for an AUS release? It was released in New Zealand 6 months ago!

Its mostly to do with distribution rights. Apparently it was shown at the Sydney Festival and I think its also in Dendy cinemas right now. I believe there is a contracted minimal time between a film's theatrical showing and its home entertainment release.

Strange that you got a copy from NZ as its actually going to release the same time as the AU version. Was it an import copy? I have the US one myself.

A friend actually picked it up for me while in New Zealand. I had always thought it was authentic but now......

Most DVD players - ie other than Sony and the other company that set up region coding - will play DVDs from any region. There may be an issue with region 1 but that is a NTSC/PAL thing not region coding (though my Region 1 copy of Wilde works just fine). You can avoid that by getting a copy from Europe/UK.

Well he's a nonbeliever that xians like. (I like that.)

Especially since he doesn't sell-out or try to 'please' them. (Not that I've seen, anyway.)

I liked it. Watched it more than once. I think he is witty in a political satire kind of way.
