Yeah, I know we've heard similar stories many times, but I'm just as shocked each time.

(I read it in the paper yesterday but couldn't find an Aussie online version. No matter, this UK version has the exact same text.)

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1141267/Saudi-judge-sentences-pregnant-gang-rape-victim-100-lashes-committing-adultery.html

A Saudi judge has ordered a woman should be jailed for a year and receive 100 lashes after she was gang-raped, it was claimed last night.

The 23-year-old woman, who became pregnant after her ordeal, was reportedly assaulted after accepting a lift from a man.

He took her to a house to the east of the city of Jeddah where she was attacked by him and four of his friends throughout the night.

She later discovered she was pregnant and made a desperate attempt to get an abortion at the King Fahd Hospital for Armed Forces.

According to the Saudi Gazette, she eventually 'confessed' to having 'forced intercourse' with her attackers and was brought before a judge at the District Court in Jeddah.

He ruled she had committed adultery - despite not even being married - and handed down a year's prison sentence, which she will serve in a prison just outside the city.

She is still pregnant and will be flogged once she has had the child.

The Saudi Arabian legal system practices a strict form of medieval law. Women have very few rights and are not even allowed to drive.

They are also banned from going out in public in the company of men other than male relatives.Saudi Arabia is such an evil, backward country! Damn islamist sharian freaks!

And what happened to the men? This makes me angry beyond words. How totally backward.

Sometimes, I wish there really were militant atheists, who would strap a bomb to their body, and blow the fuck out of the leaders of these medieval mysoginist morons.

They are just following the quran, just as the bible offers severe punishment for similar things. Maybe they should be reporting the real reasons why they do this and not just because they are evil backward morons.

They are following their version of the koran. Like the bible, there are hundreds of different "translations". Problem is, they're all translating words written by semi-literate flat-earthers.

There are only subtle differences though. It is not like one Quran will be extremely different from the other. And women's rights are definitely the same throughout.

Islam. That's the religion of peace isn't it?

It's the religion of peace and tranquility. The symbol (the crescent) supposedly is because the moon is considered to be peaceful.

Well maybe it is about peace - when you blow someone up then they are at peace.

It is super restrictive (unnecessarily restrictive too) - like for instance charging interest on a loan is considered haram (illegal) - my parents tell me that (it is weird but hey - don't be a banker if you want to be a muslim!) - I suspect it is more generic than that - like you are not permitted to make profits or something.

@ crocodile" "in pieces" != "in peace"
I know - but I don't think the Muslims actually understand that (ssshhhh!)

But then again the dead people who are blown to smithereens have nothing to worry about after they are blown up ;)

It's Allahu Akhabar ! Oh, you were being sarcastic...

Hey, as I mentioned in my introductory thread, I'm currently writing a book about my 5 and a half years in Saudi Arabia. It's got lots of these type of stories and some even worse. It is certainly a different planet over there...

Yes. And with the introduction of Sharia courts in the UK and the creeping Islamisation of Europe, it's only a matter of time before that different planet over there is over here.

Remember not to swear over there otherwise you get your tongue cut off.
Remember not to steal over there otherwise you get your hand cut off.
