Just wondering what the policy will be in regards to photography at the convention ? Banned outright ? No flash during presentations ? Could someone involved provide me with some info on this ? Just trying to find what the official policy is. Thanks. :)

At this stage we are asking people not to use flash photography during the presenters talks as it can de distracting and if any presenter doesn't want to be photographed our MCs will notify of this prior.

I can't see there being any issues other than what I mentioned.

I'll certainly be there snapping away :)

Thanks for the reply Protium, I find it always pay to ask at these sort of things, sometimes people get a bit antsy when you pull out a camera. ;) I wasn't planning on using flash anyway (I use a DSLR), but thought it would be good to get a few shots, especially of the international presenters. :)

How about taking movies? (just dodgy phoner video camera)
I would be interested on taking some footage to post on youtube for those that are unable to attend...

Is there any legal concerns doing this?

@Punktual: Short answer = no. (Duh! Interpreted as VIDEO for some reason.)

Will we be allowed to video the sessions ourselves?
I very much doubt that would be allowed, either by the committee or by the venue itself.

But take heart...

My understanding is that there have already been some offers regarding filming the Convention. This is an option available to the committee although whether it is taken up depends upon a variety of different factors - not the least being whether the major speakers will allow their segments to be filmed.

As always, I advise that anyone who doesn't want to miss out on the Convention should attend.

Even if it is filmed - and I understand that there is nothing decided on this as yet - it would probably not be possible, within the space of a DVD, to present the full weekend's events.

The Convention will be a unique event and there is no better way to experience it than actually being there. It's like the difference between being in the thick of the French Revolution or reading about it afterwards.

I think speculation on whether it is to be filmed or not is fruitless. There are so many things which will need to be negotiated in this regard, a final decision is probably not likely to be made until very close to the convention.

Don't take the risk. Buy a ticket.

Ill be bringing a camera but I certainly respect people's wishes not to be photographed. No flash photography during presentations is a no brainier.
