I don't know if everybody realizes just how much effort was put in by Protium, Davo and their team during the recent DDoS attack on the AFA's websites.

These guys worked incredibly long hours to deal with the assault and get the sites back up in double-quick time.

I know that I was talking to David at midnight the other night and Protium was still working on the website at that time - and I doubt he finished up until the wee small hours of the morning.

I just wanted David Nicholls and his tech crew to know that their efforts have been recognized and that although the techies work behind the scenes, we do appreciate their hard work and long hours.

And I want all of them to realize that it was all worth it. And don't worry - there have been cases where Christian sites have had their financial info stolen from them because every single user was an administrator and to "log in" just type a random user and random password as part of the URL too. :p

I don't think anyone's in any doubt about how hard people worked - including yourself, Kristy!

So thanks again to everyone - your tireless efforts are greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Under latest news on the AFA site, I reckon they should mention those articles about the DDoS.

hehe I heard about that ;)

There was nothing we could do security wise etc that wasn't already done. When the incoming internet pipe to a server is flooded with so much information no legitimate traffic can get thru, there's nothing you can do on a server to fix the issue. It has to be done at the network layer.

Oh I thought it was Praxis pushing buttons ops :p

Seriously well done guys,

Another site I haunt has had similar DoS attacks as it turns out form some mus-lim hackers which is kinda strange as it's totally non related. So question is has anyone lay claim to the attack??

I only just found out about all this over at PZ Myers site. It prompted me to book my ticket right away, and you had the site all up and running beautifully for me. Well done! See you there. (I'm making up a DanDare badge with my avatar so you will know its me)
