Hi All

I have asked Praxis to be a moderator and she has accepted. I have always found Praxis very level headed with a great sense of humour and I appreciate all her posts and the work she's done on RD net promoting the convention.

Please make her welcome as a mod.

That's Madam Mod to you :DHow about Mademoiselle Mod or Moderatess or Moderatorette or something else while we're at it?

Note the use of American spelling for Moderator here. I believe it should be Moderatour instead.

You really do have a heart of gold! :D
I don't, but I do have a whim of steel ;)

Crocodile, Moderator is correct - no u required. The word moderate is a ME (modern English) word, not derived from any French root word, therefore it has never had a "u". The original root word is the Latin moderatus.

Cheers!

I don't, but I do have a whim of steel ;)High speed steel or carbon steel or mild steel or balls of steel or some other type of steel?

Cheers!Ah yes I was sort of "playing around" a little. Like you know how the US spell things like color and behavior etc where as British spellings add unnecessary letters like as in colour and behaviour etcetera? I was sort of playing around with that. So:
Color -> Colour Behavior -> Behaviour Moderator -> Moderatour Escalator -> EscalatourThe possibilities of adding unnecessary letters to words are endless.

I've also fiddled with caching .. this should help.

It helps a little bit davo and I am seeing a lot fewer errors as I browse the forums. But if one is to go to the front page of the AFA forums and click on the dinky little icon that is meant to redirect people to the newest post in the newest thread I get a "connection lost" style error.

I am doing this on my laptop and have yet to see whether this works using my primary computer which is a Windows NT machine because it needs a hunk o hunk o burnin love. It should come up with the same results though since I use exactly the same browser on both machines.

I will! Now if someone could just tell me what the heck it was I was doing ... ;)

Thanks AWarGuy - it's good to be back. I had only accepted the Sceptre of Mod less than 24 hours before the site went down. Not a particularly auspicious start

Thanks AWarGuy - it's good to be back. I had only accepted the Sceptre of Mod less than 24 hours before the site went down. Not a particularly auspicious start :rolleyes:Coincidentially the site went down approximately the same time I managed to stuff up my desktop computer and now have to reinstall Windows NT thanks to me being stupid enough to uninstall a particular Microsoft service which wasn't needed because I thought it was rather unmicrosofty...

Indeed. On both counts. And how could I ever forget?

Glad to have you as a Mod.
Thanks! So far my duties have been largely ceremonial. I haven't actually done anything yet. Maybe I will end up as welcoming committee and maker of nice cups of tea.
OR
I could be controlling the entire operation behind-the-scenes so very subtly that even super-clever-trousers like Black and Prote don't realise it yet ;)

Thanks for the well wishes, robertkd :)
