View Full Version : Will there be posters about the convention?

I'm wondering if the AFA (or AIA) will be having any downloadable/printable posters advertising the convention?

If so, I'd love to distribute some around my area (oh how I'd love to put on on the window of the local woo house - the one that advertises David Icke films, amongst other things!).

Anyway, just a thought. I'd also love a sticker for my car :)

There are 1000 full colour A5 flyers winging their way to me from Unsacred Cow as we speak!

If you think you can distribute some to people who'd be interested, let me know how many you need and I'll send you some. You can contact me by PM here or at avalonbythelake at yahoo dot com dot au

No stickers, I'm sorry. :-(

We could send you David Nicholls and a pot of glue, however. ;-)

Unfortunately I doubt David Nicholls will fit at the back of a motorcycle...

The flyers I put up around the area have been removed.

In one instance, I put some in the rack outside the local house of woo (think Reiki, screenings of David Icke docos, angel readings ... you get the idea *gag* ) - second time I have done this - and before I got back in the car (only ducked into the supermarket to get milk), they had been removed. The one on the local milk bar noticeboard lasted a week at least.

I'd love to post the website for this House'o'Shite and the crud it peddles to the unthinking and the vulnerable, but it would identify where I live a little too closely for a public forum so lucky for readers, I shall refrain :D

I still have some in my glove box though, just waiting for a wall or noticeboard to put them on.

yer not doing it ryte ;)

Make up some paste boil 3 cups water, mix up really well in a separate bowl 1/4 cup of flour and 3/4 cup water, add this into your boiling water mix stirring the whole time, then add 1/2 cup sugar, stir real well and cool (occasionally stirring it).

Awesome paste.

Use a nice wide brush, and brush the surface where your pasting up (obviously we are talking about legal paste poles such as the melbourne city mall has) and stick up your poster. Paint paste all over the top of it as well, good slap dash.

To stop other pasters from ripping yours down to put theirs up, use a razor blade to 'cross hatch' the poster. makes it impossible to remove in one piece.

croc maybe onto something have you considered resin glassing the posters, sets damn hard and makes removal very difficult and helps to prevent others pasting over the top of yours,.. :D

Unfortunately the flyers were designed for professional printing and I am advised by the graphic designer that they would not reproduce well on a regular printer. If the committee thinks that some kind of 'print out' flyer should be produced, something will have to be designed specifically for that purpose.

There are more flyers currently being produced and if anyone thinks they have an opportunity to distribute some to people who may be genuinely interested in attending (e.g. at universities, in club newsletters, at political meetings, or similar) please let me know how many you need and I will send you some as soon as they're available.

If you just want one or two to put up on local or university noticeboards or similar, I am happy to send just a few.

Some A3 posters are currently being designed and should be able to be run off fairly cheaply. If the committee approves it, it may be possible to send posters to people who can put them somewhere they are likely to catch the interest of our target audience.

Please remember, that promotional material is expensive to produce, so unless you actually have access to a group of people who are likely to be interested in the Convention, it's probably not worth handing out flyers. It would be a waste, for instance, just to stand on a street corner handing them out - but it might be worth standing in a university quadrangle doing the same thing (if it was allowed by the University - we don't want to do anything illegal).

We are, of course, very grateful for everybody's work in promoting the convention in blogs, twitters and by word of mouth. You guys all rock.

Oh dear... why does anyone outside the UK know that name, it is sad indeed. Lizardmen indeed

Sorry, that was off topic - just passing through

It seems the poster idea met with some difficulties last convention. Any plans to try it this time?

Having noticed a christian a-board offering bible readings near where I work I'd consider putting up some A4 info sheets on the nearby notice board.. I cant make it myself but perhaps I can help others find their way..?

I've noticed a couple of spots begging for a poster too.:) I'm mindful that, given the exceptionally high quality of the convention, with the world class speakers and top venue, we'd probably only be looking at something AFA designed or approved that's of professional standard? Might be a moot point if the tickets disappear fast after September 1st!

Similarly, I know of a few places which could do with a poster/some flyers if any are available for the 2012 GAC.

I'd be down for leafletting every community notice board I come into contact with.

I'd be happy to put one up on the work notice board (big medical co, so mostly sciency) and the local Uni campus, which I am pretty sure doesn't have an atheist group.
