From today's Sydney Morning Herald: Churches put their faith in advertising Jesus (http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/lifematters/churches-put-their-faith-in-advertising-jesus-20090909-fhmy.html?comments=53#comments)
It puts me in a "civil disobedience" mood. I feel some graffiti coming on.

perhaps the Irreverent Mr Black has some posters that could be printed out and posted so as to inform people and give a more balanced view on the subject. ;)

@DBK: I'd caution you to not deface anything which is legally placed on private property. The courts will not see it as civil disobedience, and the people who may benefit from damages and any resulting publicity will be a subset of annoying, passive-aggressive xtians who will see the act as "our persecution" and any fines, etc as god whacking you, rather than the courts and lawyers.
Don't feed yourself to the christians, even if you're certain they're lyin'. (Boom Tish!)
Keep your eyes on the JAAL parody site (http://www.jesusallaboutlife.com/). It just may be we have a place (http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/forums/showpost.php?p=28155&postcount=1) for your voice to be heard.

Seriously, people. I don't want any of you getting into trouble. Private property and legitimate advertising should be out of bounds for the thinking atheist.
Every one of us who goes to court gives the Pharisees ('cos that's what they have become) a chance to gibber, leap, hoot and point the finger.
I would ask that you maintain your dignity, unless you happen across a piece of propaganda posted on a power-pole, traffic light control box or other place where advertising is patently illegal.
Everybody should do their bit to keep Australia clean, and dispose of rubbish thoughtfully.

"nearly half of all parents registered antagonism to the faith and said they would not give their children an understanding of Christianity."
woo hoo, lets just hope they stick to their guns during the campaign of lies.
"The research also showed that the global financial crisis could present an opportunity for churches to reconnect with people as they reviewed their family values and finances."
once again, they are moving in on the vulnerable and weak, while their chips are down. scum bags

Mr Black, I never intended on defacing public property- too much! Just thought about putting stickers/ advertising material advertising logic and rationalism just outside the churches!
Or maybe a sandwichboard: "The end of the world is nigh!" style.

BLATANT SITE PROMOTION
You could just counter by spreading the badges on my site. ;) The whole concept of my site is to advertise atheism. http://www.secularswarm.com
I think advertising your beliefs is a great idea, and I think the internet is one of the best means to do that.

On the other hand, when a christian kills an abortion doctor, LINK (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/31029377/) -It's an act of g-d. I know people in that town, and not one christian seemed to have any sympathy for the doctor. Freakin double standards are a fact of life right now, but never sink to their level. There's still a chance that reason could prevail in the end, but only if we stay civil.

@DBK: That's cool, I was fairly certain you weren't advocating anything illegal, but wanted to be sure that anybody reading this would not do something silly.

The Goat has a point. In fact there are hefty fines (depending on the place) and possible imprisonment for doing such things. Also note that some places have "NO BANNERS" or "NO POSTERS" or "BILL POSTERS WILL BE PROSECUTED" things - and I would always assume that they really mean it. If some Christian puts something in such areas report the bastard - and if there is a poster take a picture and report that to the local police - without using the 000 number - otherwise you may get a charge for misuse of an emergency phone line.
Just remember something - as stupid as a religious bastard is - we must prove ourselves smarter than them.

@Croc: Is it wise to vandalise just because Jeebus is doing it? I would suggest maybe looking for one's own strategies, rather than slavishly copying the opposition.

I wasn't actually suggesting vandalism. I meant in an area where you are allowed to post things - post them.

These sort of things are usually handled by local councils (far too trivial a matter for police) - best to contact them.
