Let me start this story at the begining. My mother ,bless her heartless soul was born into the jehovah's witness fan club and my father into a everyday christian family. So what do you get when you cross a jehovah with a moderate christian? Oh no, it's not a joke. Thats right you get a AOG fundamentalist. My parents in all their wisdom joined the bible bashing band wagon in which became the enviroment I grew up in. I have so much to thank the AOG for I really don't know where to start. First let me thank them for introducing my mother to the term "don't spare the rod" which when taken literally is quite a painfull experience. It's not that I'm against discipline but when it's done with such fervor and thoroughness I suppose you are going to have the odd breakage. Second I would like to thank them for casting out those demons that were in my bedroom when I was 9. If it wasn't for the entourage of exorcists who cleansed my room I may never have been able to get to sleep ever again( I felt so much better after they made it fucking real for me) Thirdly, I would like to thank them for showing my mother how to cast out demons. There is really nothing like your mother thinking your so evil that you must be possesed by not just one but maybe three demons .All I can say is " I'm glad I was at an age in which I had the maturity and understanding. Ohhh hang on thats right I was only 10." Fourthly , I would like to thank them for the movie about the rapture, Left behind I think its called. This touching tale really hit home one day when my sister and I got home from school and found that our parents weren't at home like usual. My sister then suggested that they had been raptured and we had been left behind. As an 8 year old I started to cry uncontrollably , According to the movie when you are left behind you have two choices to choose from 1)the number of the beast in which you will get sent to hell if you take it or 2) have your head chopped off with the guillotine. What was an 8 year old to choose? Thanks especially to my parents for the isolation and not being allowed to have friends, thanks for not letting me take certain lessons in a public school on religious grounds, thanks for telling me there is no future for humanity.
Look, I could go on and on but I think you can get the picture. My parents divorced and I escaped with my Dad who was excommunicated for adultry. As an Atheist I have always been out , trying to help christians understand just how damaging their beliefs can be . It is only recently that I have looked for others who feel the same way and here you all are.

Would your experience be typical, or was your mother a bit more fanatical than most?

I had to break up your story into little pieces so I could read it better :D

See Life of Brian for an accurate Bible story.

So what do you get when you cross a jehovah with a moderate christian? Oh no, it's not a joke. Thats right you get a AOG fundamentalist. My parents in all their wisdom joined the bible bashing band wagon in which became the enviroment I grew up in.
Ouch.

I'm autistic. I reckon my family think I'm devil posessed too (well they do pray for me to get better)

The guillotine perhaps?

You weren't allowed to have friends?! That's just going to the extreme. These Stupid Christians MUST BE STOPPED!

Look, I could go on and on but I think you can get the picture. My parents divorced and I escaped with my Dad who was excommunicated for adultry. I'm quite surprised you don't feel like slitting your parents' throats! I haven't had it this bad for sure and I feel like doing that and pouring acid in the wounds etc (of course I probably won't get around to doing it for several reasons - primarily due to lack of supplies)

But Jesus this must hurt! Christians and Muslims do have damaging beliefs and quite ironically they claim to be peaceful religions.

I wouldn't be able to talk for the whole AOG about the beatings, that may be my mother's own fettish but the rest was quite typical in fact common place. In the 70's you could even have a masturbation demon cast out. Not entirely sure how it goes now maybe The Irreverent Mr Black may be able to shed some light.
