I grew up in a household where my parents were both believers in the Jehovah Witness doctrine (for want of a better word). They used to attend the local assembly meetings but let it all lapse for one reason or another. They were both believers until the very end.

From the age of 14 to 17 I attended JW bible studies\meetings and used got a "A" every year at school for Religious Instruction. Every meeting I attended it was quite clear to all the believers that the world as we know it was going to end on judgement sometime in 1976. Did I miss it?

I left it all behind and became basically apathetic about the whole thing. 40 years later I read (listened to a Audiobook) of the God Delusion and later God is not Great, then all of a sudden the light that has always been at the back of my mind turned on. And there's me thinking I'm a quick learner.

Generally the older people get the more they turn towards spirituality, well i'm the opposite, the older I get the more militant (might not be the right word) I get.

I am not going to sit back anymore and just respect someone's religious beliefs for fear of upsetting them.

I have two loverly granchildren aged 4 and 1, they have never harmed anyone and just ooze love and affection. When believers think that god is justified in any way what so ever for using the human race as cannon fodder, collateral damage and pawns in his war (he started it all) against the devil, I do and will take issue with them all.

I have also realised that you can never win the creationist v eveloutionist debate with there people as they have extreme tunnel audio/visual syndrome.
