Good grief!

In a headline four centimetres high, the Adelaide Advertiser (9/7/09) proclaims..

"PRAY FOR A SAINT"

In a report by Mark Kenny, we are informed that...

"Prime Minister Kevin Rudd today arrived in Rome to advocate for the sainthood of revered South Australian Mary McKillop when he meets Pope Benedict"

Will this bloody nonsense ever stop!

Surely the Catholics have enough damned saints floating around already without taking up the time of our Prime Minister on stupid missions to the Pope.

Let me know if he is planning any trips in the area of the North Pole, I will ask him to drop off my Christmas wish list to Santa Claus!

WHAT THE F*&@ IS OUR PRIME MINISTER DOING LOBBYING THE VATICAN TO GET MARY MCKILLOP MADE INTO A SAINT. Yes capital letters does mean yelling quite loudly.

Two points;

1) State and religion should NOT mix in this way.
2) Surely god will let Mr Popey know if Mary McKillop is worthy of being a saint if that's required (maybe Uncle Kev is actually god in disguise :eek:).

Fundie? The last time I looked the guy claimed to be C of E and an admirer of Dietrich Bonhoeffer.Hardly a part of the lunar religious right.

From Wiki

Rudd and his family attend the Anglican church of St John the Baptist in Bulimba (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulimba) in his electorate. Although raised a Roman Catholic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_Catholic), Rudd began attending Anglican (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anglicanism) services in the 1980s with his wife.[3] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kevin_Rudd#cite_note-.27SMH20061209_LonelyRoad.27-2) I think Tin Tin is simply being a politician acting on advice from his very own Hollow men. I never vote on personalities.If I did I'd never vote at all.

Australian politics is certainly moving albeit slowly into similar grounds to the US. Politicians are using the G word more often than ever before in their campaigns. I think there is another thread on this but not sure.

As for Kevin 747 the man is starting to worry my a bit, for a leader he is too wishy washy.

The Australian newspaper had a blog on the letters pages about this the other day, I replied but as usual religious comment in this country is not usually permitted and it was censored. I just said that the skeptics association had a million dollar offer to anyone that can prove any supernatural phenomenon and that the Catholic church cannot prove any of its Saints or exorcisms or any other of it's self invented religious myths and fantasies?
I read somewhere that it cost Australia 11 million dollars to have the ex National party leader Tim Fisher as ambassador at the Vatican Catholic State, the fascist catholic dictator Mussolini created in 1922, before he joined the other fascist catholic Hitler in the carnage of WW2, Mussolini and his girl friend ended up hung in the street by his own people? Did you know the Vatican was the first State to recognize the Nazi govt of Hitler and that Hitler was proclaimed the new Jesus Christ in 1937 by Reich Minister for religious affairs Hans Kerri. No wonder they censor religious history and information it's revolting isn't it? http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/forums/images/icons/icon9.gif
