View Full Version : 03-Casino Mafia Day 2

Durro

Sorry. I did up the end of round notice and when I submitted it, my internet dropped out and I lost the lot and it's taken this long to get back on. Feckin' Optus.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/SDurro/Casino%20Mafia/endofnightround.jpg

As dawn breaks over the casino, construction workers outside preparing to start their day continuing on the new carpark expansion were less than surprised to find this sight confronting them. Sticking out of some freshly poured concrete were some police boots.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/SDurro/Casino%20Mafia/concreteshoes.jpg

As they started excavating with a tired resignation and sense of deja vu given the alarming frequency with which this seems to happen in and around this particular casino, the workers slowly revealed the body of Dilbadoon.

Until he untimely demise, Dilbadoon was the Day Cop, able to investigate 1 player per day round.

Rest In Peace Concrete, dilby. A practical detective, perhaps too immersed in his own head(stone).

My suspicions from yesterday are largely sustained although there are more people to consider. I am interested in answers to other people's questions as well as to my own when they arise.

Do you play at these tables often, Sieveboy?

What are you doing standing in the corner there, Voltairine?

Does Vacuous O'Possum have her connection, yet?

oh dear, this game facility is really not what it seems, is it? And I spent SO much private time yesterday, getting to know so many people who've simply disappeared!

I guess that's what happens when you've got a mole in your ranks.

Imma little short on funds for baccarat. Anyone care to loan me a few shekels? Maybe I can pay you back... in kind.....

Who're you calling a moll Mizz Possum? What? Oh, a mole. Sorry. As you were. *ahem*

Oh poor dilby. I always liked him. Now he's gone *sniff*.

Come on innocent people! We need to stick together. The scum seem to have recovered nicely from their loss of Bolero and are laughing at us. Is that what you want? Of course not!

Jin-oh hasn't even put in an appearance AFAIK. If he's scum, he's certainly playing a very interesting game by not even being here. I hope someone investigates him just to get it out of the way since we have nothing else to go on.

sieveboy, you're on my radar as looking deeply suspicious, boy.

Mizz Podblack, I'm also eyeing you off. And not in that way either. An expensive frock like that could only have been purchased with funds come by dishonestly. Scum money. Care to convince me otherwise?

Vote

1 sieveboy (Praxis)

Oh dear. And I was hoping for a nice quiet day today. I really must attend to my business. A lady has to support herself you know.

Please try to play nice while I'm gone. It's going to cost a fortune to clean these carpets when it's all done

PS: In case they missed it, this is an appeal to the Serial Killer: you made a bad move offing Protium like that. I don't think you based your decision on this game but rather on past performance which is never a good move. I respectfully suggest that your next target be someone you actually think may be scum. Just a suggestion of course.

Nothing but the truth here, Xen, at least in regard to your qn about my connection. Interwebz usually die here about 4-5ish (5-6 AEST), when the rains come in. I'm with a company called Datec, whom do NOT provide a 24 hour service. Often when the web goes down (along with phones and all other coms) it doesn't come back on until after 8am local time, the next morning. The longest I've been without internet is 2 weeks. It doesn't happen every night, but it happen MOSt nights. My single biggest concern for signing up for this, is I would have no connection and let Prax and the team down in some way. The mods are well aware of this. Prax will have my proxy vote until I publically declare she doesn't, or she's taken out of the game. At which point, if I am still here, I will get someone else to do it. I will PM Prax my vote just before 4pm local time. In the absence of me getting on at all, she will use my vote as she sees fit.

So far today, I've been on and off a few times, and we're currently running on genset power.

Feel free to ping my ISP and see what I mean.

Please place proxy votes in the public game thread rather than via PM, for transparency's sake.

You can either decide to vote for someone yourself, or give your proxy to Praxis or another player and let them decide.

ok so the final tally for yesterday was (correct me if I'm wrong)

Threat - 3 (dilbadoon, Bolero, Podblack)
Loubert - 2 (reddix, Sieveboy)
Xeno - 2 (Voltairine)
reddix - 1 (vacuous o'possum - as advised to Praxis earlier in proxy request, )
Bolero - 9 (, davo, praxis + proxy from Loki & wolty, loubert, Threat, Protium)
Voltairine - 1 (Xeno)

Proxies
Praxis - holds 3 proxies (Loki, vacuous o'possum, wolty)

so davo dies because of bolero! bloody scum.

protes got hit by someone! wasn't it stated we don't have a s/k. so it could be a vig or something else I haven't heard off.

and last night poor Dilby got a concrete dream...

so lets look at who voted for who.

I'm assuming (assumption being the mother of all fuck ups!) that those that voted for bolero are innocents.
which leaves Praxis, wolty, loki, threat and myself left!

noone ended their votes on protes or dilby,. going to go back through and see if anyone removed their vote off bolero, or nominated protes or dilby.

With my vote I was following Davo, who I figured was town after our PMs. He switched late in the game, guess he never saw it coming... well he never mentioned it to me. I didn't switch too because there was no point and a last minute switch might make me look like scum. But either way I can't win. :(

loubert
19th March 2012, 09:43 AM
ok so bolero voted for threat to start with. we know bolero was scum!

then we had davo voting for protes... then that changed...now both are gone.

davo went for reddix...and protes went for threat. then davo unvoted reddix and went for Possum.

now reddix voted for me... for no apparant reason....suss

loki offloads his vote to praxis! claims he is busy!
davo then unvotes possum.

now Praxis holds two proxies (loki and Possum.)

dilby who was innocent then votes for sieveboy....

podblack moves in and votes for threat.

wolty then gives proxy vote for praxis,

davo makes a move on xeno....

followed by Volts...

I then vote for reddix, my only reason was he voted for me without reason... not good I know.

xeno votes for me on very limited grounds...

sievboy then also votes me.

while xeno remains suspicous of me he moves his vote to volts.

davo switches from xeno to bolero. as do I, threat, protes.

dilby dumps sieveboy and moves to threat.

now there maybe a scum vote in there for bolero, but I'm not sure. it seemed no matter what scum did, bolero was going down. makes no sense for praxis to be scum, otherwise she would have moved her vote off bolero for some reason.

for some reason threat and possum are sticking out like sore pokie playing fingers....

still a few players that are very very quiet...

something to think on fellow innocents.

I voted for red, because, after a monster pm session with Dave, he changed his vote from red to me. Ergo, that which we were discussing meant Dave suspected either me or red of lying to him.

I know it wasn't me, so it HAD to be red.

Then Dave went and unvoted me, so I had obviously convinced him of my innocence.

More reason for me to vote for red.

He's up to something, that one.

loubert, although I retained some suspicions at the time, the original basis of voting to lynch you was a misreading of context of one of your comments. I was wrong, so in fact you have gone back to unknown. I hold no particular suspicion of you.

Nothing has happened to change my suspicion of Voltairine. I concur that we are not getting much from posts by Vacuous O'Possum. Sieveboy is one I have not looked at closely but was curious to see what response he might make to Praxis' vote.

Incidentally, in your earlier list, there was finally only one vote against me, davo shifting to Bolero. It was from Voltairine which may have been tit-for-tat.

You're a very odd person, aren't you? But that's okay! Odd can be...interesting.

Meanwhile, the tally is wrong. Wrong I tell you!

I put in a vote earlier for sieveboy.

So, AFAIK, the correct tally is thus:

sieveboy 1 (Praxis)
V. Possum. 1 (loubert)
Jin-oh 5 (penalty)

As an aside, I do wonder if Jin-oh has done this deliberately or innocently. He did sign up for the game, presumably received a role but hasn't made one appearance. Casino Ghost perhaps? Could that be another of the GM's devious plots to confuse us poor innocents?

Does seem odd to deliberately incur a 5 point penalty for not voting though.

I still haven't heard from sieveboy or podblack in the privacy of my suite to convince me of their innocence. I have reached out and touched many of you though. And go on, admit it, you all liked it didn't you?

I'm good like that ;)

Now I must be off. For a while anyway. Play nice.

It wasn't tit-for-tat - I voted for you first, following Davo's lead. :) Didn't seem any point in changing to Bolero at the last minute, she was out of here anyway and changing to a "safe" vote could be seen as a scum trick. But then not changing it could be seen as a scum trick too. Screwed either way I voted.

Ol'Poss? I assumed you just voted for Jin-oh, cause you may not get online today and it was an early vote this morn...

Now, why would you still vote for Jin-oh-no-show after a fair bit of conversation has taken place?

If you're town, declare a vote for someone actually playing...

Xeno
19th March 2012, 12:05 PM
I would say that if the scum team feels that there is a lot of suspicion on Ms Poss, then they attempt to make sure Jin-oh is lynched by giving the role to the only scum member they already think exposed, not revealing any of the rest of the team. They would fear Ms Poss being voted out before they have a chance to reduce town numbers overnight. Losing Bolero early was a big blow and they can not afford another so soon.

That is my consideration of what Praxis writes.

I was going to take my time about introducing this today, but it seems the only way to deal with a scum or to expose them, is for innocents to pile votes on O'Poss. Scum will have to let her go or expose themselves trying to shove Jin-oh down the lift shaft.

In the unlikely event O'Poss proved innocent after her regrettable but necessary demise, then I will be painting a huge target on someone else I know. Of course, if that person is innocent then in the same circumstances they would be thinking exactly the same about me, and that would be fair on their part, but if we are both innocent the O'Poss should be hurled from the Casino roof and the duct tape removed from Jin-oh's mouth, his bindings removed, and brought back into town to help us clean it up.

In this game I can never exclude some error whereby all three (me, O'Poss and A. N. Other) are innocent but it is looking bloody unlikely at the moment, and today is a really good test. Lynch the possum! (No hard felings, Ms Vac ;)).

Jin-oh is surely innocent but might be bound by a game rule so far, or simply careless. There is no way scum would allow him to miss voting. They can not afford the loss of numbers. My estimate is that we common dice-rollers have moved slightly ahead and need to stay there.

Purely statistical, although I fear that Jin-Oh's lack-of-presence might be a scum tactic, and voting for him might incur the same nasty, sticky end that voting for Bol had for Dave.

However, given the issues of proxy votes, I have decided to stick with my original decision, until I don't, or don't don't.

As you are aware, I was terribly worried that you having my proxy vote would make you a target.

my vote for Jin was based purely on not wanting to wake up tomorrow with 5 votes against me, if my internet goes down.

Initially I thought that giving Prax my proxy vote (which I did yesterday, based on my just-in-case scenario) meant she would and could vote as I directed her.

She did so yesterday, voted proxy on my behalf, as I directed her.

Today, I find out that giving my proxy vote means she can use is as she sees fit and ignore any directive I might give her.

My very first post this morning outlined that. Check it out, gambolers!

So, just incases I get moofed, I at least have a vote out there.

Despite whatever might be going on, upstairs in the private suites, whatever you're being told, the evidence is there, that this was my strategy from first light.

IF I have reason to change it, and IF I have connection, then I will do so.

I have already, in the privacy of my room, told SEVERAL people that if I change my mind, or if my vote is needed for an alliance, then I cannot guarantee I will be able to cast a vote. I've dropped out over 5 times today already.

Better to have one out there, however bad it looks, from first light, rather than wake up with 5 points tomorrow.

I have no idea who nor what Jin is. But it's my safest bet at this stage of the game.

And PLeNTY of people who are being disambiguous know this, from my private entertainments.

There's a traitor in the ranks, I fear, lovers.

What about others out there, that you're convicting on less evidence?? Poor old Sieve? Poor old poddie? That Threat rejects my advances, votes for me, then Sieve, with no more than a by-your-leave.

And while you ol Mafioso have to factor a LOT of things in, the one thing I bet you've never had to facto on, is the fact that I CAN'T GUARANTEE I CAN GeT ON. And that, my lovers, is fact.

Oh, you sweet young things!!

Yes, there's been PLENTY of conversation, but none, I fear, enough to make me change my mind yet. This way, until I come up with another option the one thing I can guarantee is NOT having 5 votes against me tomorrow.

The knives are out, I see. Looks like I'll get those 5 votes tonight.

newp, not yet. Even though I am less fat than I used to be, I am not breaking into song just yet.

Not quite sure why my 'excuses" are full of holes, unless some scum-puppeh is feeding you all porkies.

I declared my intent this morning, and you, Miz Prax, have known it all along. As you knew my concerns over your fair rep-yoo-taish-hun, should I publically declare I had removed my proxy from you.

Nothing's changed, so far, except if I DO change my vote now, it looks pretty dodgy.

Nice side-swiping, I'd say...

Prax, my love, with all the adoration I have in my heart for you, Mayhaps you should put on your reading glasses. That is the vote I declared this morning, when the tables opened.Sorry old poss, but you voted against Jin-oh long after you knew there was already his five vote penalty against him, three hours after you first entered the thread and chatted away, and after aspersions had been cast upon you. This is not, "when the tables opened."

Purely statistical, although I fear that Jin-Oh's lack-of-presence might be a scum tacticWhat could be a more fatuous tactic than to organise your own lynching? Not credible.

and voting for him might incur the same nasty, sticky end that voting for Bol had for Dave.If you get rid of scum, they don't kill you. Are you proposing that we don't vote against scum so they will be nice to us?

However, given the issues of proxy votes, I have decided to stick with my original decision, until I don't, or don't don't.Of course you will :p

As you are aware, I was terribly worried that you having my proxy vote would make you a target. Rubbish. She exercises the votes before any chance of being taken out. It is not a matter of whether you die as an individual but whether your team wins, meaning you investigate and hit scum. Target schmarget.

I do not care at this point if I am killed overnight because I already have your number, and one death each puts town further ahead, and before scum can get me I am working hard on identifying the remainder and will be making sure this knowledge lives after me.

and voting for him might incur the same nasty, sticky end that voting for Bol had for Dave.

No, nothing of the sort. Having never played Mafia before, I am wondering WHy Jin hasn't showed himself, and whether his demise is linked to someone else? I bet Dave didn't see hi suicide coming, linked with Bol's vote off. Despite the chance of a vote for Jin having some nasty implications (paranoia, much??), it still covered my arse if my internet went down.

Call me the grassy knoll, but I don't trust the GM's anymore than I trust any of you

Purely statistical, although I fear that Jin-Oh's lack-of-presence might be a scum tactic

who's not to say that Jin won't turn up 1, 2, 20 mins from now and align with oh, I don't know... ANYONE to amke sure than someone gets more than his 5 votes??? That, IMHO, is a pretty scummy tactic.

There are more, but I Do actually have to go...

Depite what you may believe, or read into my words, or what, even, your being fed by so-called friends and allies, the evidence remains that my vote for Jin was discussed within only a few posts of this opening, and I have, for reasons I have made plain, decided not to change my vote for fear of having none. And frankly, after today, I don't trust Prax enough to trust her with my proxy any more, now that it's been clarified that she can use it as she sees fit and not take direction from me.

And now, I say unto thee, I will not change my vote. Lock me in, GM's, I vote for Jin. redundant or not, STUPID or not. Because to change it now, despite my strategy, would only fuel the schemers more.

I will go down with this ship.

It was the very next thread where Durro made both Prax and I realise that in giving her my proxy, she could use it any way she wanted.

Would you like to borrow Prax's glasses, dearie?I might need them. All this scum hunting does tire one, but then again you could always read the game rules (http://www.atheistfoundation.org.au/forums/showpost.php?p=281184&postcount=1) where the person holding the proxy actually has no choice but to cast all votes in a single direction. I have taken it the GMs allowed a special dispensation to take your vote directly from the PM rather than making it an actual proxy vote.

Everything else remains unanswered, so I remain satisfied we are doing the right thing by you :p.

The casino patrons enjoyed another day of responsible gambling and liquid lubrication. However, as the day progressed, they became increasingly suspicious of the increasingly erratic Vacuous o'possum. With their numbers dwindling from the mafia scums' activity, the casino crowd soon formed an angry lynch mob and started baying for blood.

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/SDurro/Casino%20Mafia/AngryMobPlaySet.jpg

Looking to exact a bloody revenge, the crowd turned on Vacuous O'possum and dragged her protesting her innocence across the casino floor in search of a deadly implement. "To the woodchipper !" someone cried, searching in vain for the said apparatus with which to dispatch Poss. Soon realising that they were in a casino, which is characteristically devoid of woodchippers on a normal basis, the lynch mob dragged the unfortunate Possum towards an open card shuffler which was being serviced. Pushing the surprised service technician out of the way, the crowd slowly fed Poss into the card shuffler where the internal apparatus spun viciously and gave her quite a nasty paper cut to her left hand. Realising their further folly and the immediate absence of a fatal outcome, the lynch crowd then simply whacked Poss over the head with a mallet they found lying around (Hey, it's the mafia casino. There's crap like that lying around everywhere).

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/SDurro/Casino%20Mafia/whacked.jpg

While rifling through Poss's pockets for loose change to feed into the pokies, one of the gambling addicted mob members was quite surprised to discover possum's police ID. You see, she was actually the...

Cop...

Well, actually...

The Corrupt Cop and member of the Mafia Team. Vacuous o'possum was fed information daily about who was investigated by any innocent cops in the game and could pass it on to her scumalicious team mates.

Absolutely chuffed with their efforts at lynching another mafia player, maintaining their 100% record of successful lynches in the process, the happy mob waltzed off towards the bar for a round of Cocksucking Cowboys. And apparently, they had some alcoholic drinks as well. However, not everyone made it to the bar...

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/SDurro/Casino%20Mafia/sniperbullet.jpg

Xeno stepped outside for a quick cigarette, only to walk into the target sight of an unknown assassin. Xeno didn't even hear the shot that blew out the back of his head.

Xeno was ...

http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee11/SDurro/Casino%20Mafia/bodyguardpicture.jpg

..The Bodyguard, able to protect one selected player each night round. Xeno's protective powers may be sorely missed, as the mafia scourge continues to decimate the innocent gamblers' numbers.

Poss and Xeno may now say their final goodbyes before heading off to the afterlife and having no more communication about the game with any player still in the game.
