well, actually on Sunday. I've had the song in my head for months, and tomorrow I will finally be able to legitimately sing it.
I've been busy touring visitors round our silly little city and doing final preparations for the day. Then I'll be busy getting married, then off on honeymoon to Mozambique.
I'm already missing the discussion on here... but once I'm back at my boring job I'll be back around, with some fresh insight from Africa.

Congratulations and enjoy your honeymoon in Africa. Have I got a couple of african vacation stories for you...But alas, you'll have to wait for the book I'm writing. Plus, I wouldn't want to scare you off your trip. Just be glad I'm not coming with you.
Mrs Durro and I are coming up to our 20th anniversary - just booked a 13 day cruise to Fiji to celebrate it.

ola! I'm back. married, honeymooned and now back at work. :( With new hubby still in Africa! I'm not coping too well with his absence, especially as he has no phone... so our communication is limited to random meetings on the internet and stressful calls to backpackers.
Our wedding day was PERFECT. The sun came out just in time, the kookaburras laughed only at the most appropriate moments, the service, food and African drumming were FANTASTIC and everyone - even the bride & groom - had a fun, beautiful day. Even my cynical, red-neck family thought our hippy ceremony was wonderful. My Uncle's partner said it was the best wedding she'd ever been to, and I have to agree! :) We do put on a good show.
Mozambique was pretty cool. Missed a lot of things we'd wanted to see... the 4am buses run daily, but don't get you very far. But we'll be back. We swam with whalesharks in Tofo, saw lots of animals at Kruga on a day trip from Maputo, slept in a hut, travelled on the back of a truck with locals, enjoyed lots of bananas and seafood and local rum, and generally strolled around enjoying the palm trees and the warm weather. We managed enough Portuguese to get by, although in the touristy towns and the capital people often spoke English. We saw lots of cathedrals & cute little churches (a gorgeous one I saw made of straw, would be just a straw shed apart from the cross painted on it) and some mosques, but we otherwise didn't encounter people's religious views. Next time we might attend mass... or part of one - apparently they run all day.
Now to trawl through all the fascinating discussions I've missed here!

Will do when I get some decent ones! Have requested copies from friends, but they are slow in coming... and the professional ones are still being edited.
Thanks for the warm welcome back everyone!
