Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, described a lack of faith as “the greatest of evils” and blamed atheism for war and destruction, implying that it was a greater evil even than sin itself.


The Cardinal will be quite happy with this article. He knows his flock will be pushing to get past the second paragraph, but it doesn't matter because there it is in black and white: Atheists are evil, war-mongering bastards.

He knows the faithful are always looking for scapegoats and now he's given them one: Christianity is OK; it's those miserable atheists causing all the trouble.

...and the faithful will go to their graves thinking it is true.

yeah, that's right, and I suppose we're to blame too for all the child abuse in catholic run institutions...oh, and the centuries-long inquisitions, oh and the crusades, and the centuries of anti-Semitism...and the colluding with fascists governments...that was all us atheists and secularists...nothing to do with them holier than thou catholics at all. Who'd have thunk it?;)
