Astronomer threatened with lawsuit for doubting Eid moon sighting (http://arabnews.com/saudiarabia/article497239.ece)

"There are unjust pens and foul tongues that cast doubt on our religion which should be silenced. We are strictly following the Sunnah of our Prophet in fasting and marking Eid days," he said, accusing the doubting astronomers of trying to impose their opinions on the nation.

Goddamn scientists, foisting their "opinions" on our ignorant followers.

I listened to a BBC news report yesterday regarding this issue in Indonesia and the so called issues that where associated and the confusion caused by the prediction of the first crescent including infighting between islamic governing bodies. I guess it was the extra day of fasting.

Unremarkable indeed in a patriarchy that insist that women wear burkhas with vision slits narrower than a Sherman tank's.

The role of both vision slits is exactly the same-to channel vision.
