Just wanted do a head count of how many Tasmanians may be considering heading up for the 2012 Global Atheist Convention | A Celebration of Reason (http://www.atheistconvention.org.au/).

As the organiser for the Launceston Skeptics (http://www.launcestonskeptics.com/), I know that a few of us our thinking of attending.

You may now proceed with the two-headed comments, because I know everyone has been dying to make them. :)

I call foul Jin-Oh. Tasmanians are not allowed to ruin prospective "headcount" jokes by pre-announcing them.

btw, the seats are sold on buttcount not headcount so Tasmanians will receive the same value for money that the rest of us do.

Do South Australians count?

I mean, trying to swim to Victoria but being caught in the current ....

I'm originally from South Australia, not sure if that's a plus or minus. :)

I had my second head attached as I got off the plane.

Hang on, if they have two heads attending they should pay twice or we should only pay half.

Or something.....

I will shut up now.

A definite PLUS there. SA is the hub of the country you can tell by how all those other states try to crowd in around it and share borders just to be close. It is the god given duty of all crow eaters to spread our mission to the other states and raise them to our sacred level :p:D:D

Your mission to convert the Eastern-States heathen throng is doomed to fail I'm afraid.
Their vanity is too strong and their modified geocentric model means they'll never stop believing that the Universe revolves around them. ;)

I can't even recall the last time that SA won the rugby league state of origin.

Sadly this is more evidence of an eastcoastcentric world, to put it gently there is a whole different world out there if you go more than a few degrees either side of 150°E in Australia. Full of fun, diversity and interesting things -even other sports!!
Just so you know the guys that intituted SOG for the league did so after attending an oz rules SOG game. So if the your founding fathers can do it maybe you could give it a try:p:D

I've heard of that SOG SAO game you guys play down there. I don't think I have the stomach for it. :D

@djarm67 - :o:Dfucked if I know how I came up with SOG read it as SOO (facepalm) as for soggy biscuit, i've heard of it but never seen it. I have seen one called "bushfires" where drunks set their pubic hair alight and the last to put it out wins - not a pretty sight!!
Oh, and i'm in King Katter (his wishful thinking not mine) country these days doing my best to raise the standards.

+1 To the Tasmania list, very excited. Tickets and flights will be organised in a couple of days. I'm going to be staying in some backpackers place to save money - all class

I am trying to see if I can arrange a get together for all the Tassie attendees at the convention. I thought Twitter might be a good form of communication. I’m going to start using the hash tag #2HeadsAtGAC. :)

I'll be attending, and am Tasmania. I think a few others are coming who don't post on this forum.

Got my tickets the other day for convention and dinner. Woohoo!!

Travelling with my wolf pack of one from north west Tassie. Would be good to meet up with some fellow Taswegians...

We (n=2) were there! All the way from sunny Hobart. Both 2010 and 2012. Just waiting with tapping foot for 2014.

I was there from Burnie and had an absolutely fantastic weekend. I was wondering if there were any others from the NW and if we wanted to get something started along the lines of the skeptics in Launceston & Hobart etc.

There's a launceston skeptics group. Bit of a drive from your 'hood though....?

Yeah. I knew about the Launceston group, friended them on FB a while back. I'm keen, after the conv, to get something going locally, if possible. Amazingly, after the GAC, and my talking about it, I've got at least 3-4 others at work that are interested (in an office of 40, 10%'s not bad).

I guess we need to aim to get all of the Tassie groups linked so that people can find it easy to locate other like minded people in their area.

I really hope there's another GAC. This time it'll be me and my better half...
