Announcing the new Atheist Alliance International

Dear Forumites,

As you may or may not know, our partner for the last Melbourne Convention was Atheist Alliance International under the presidency of Stuart Bechman.

AAI has now evolved into two groups, Atheist Alliance International and Atheist Alliance America.

The International part is being formalised this weekend at the World Atheist Convention in Ireland. Tanya Smith, who is on the AFA's Public Relations Team and was on the 2010 Global Atheist Convention Committee will be the new president of AAI in a few hours time.

Lee Holmes is also to be on the board of management of AAI as the 'Secular World' (AAI's & AAA's magazine) representative and will be hooking up by teleconference with Ireland tonight.

I don't know much about the previous AAI (not a member but received newsletters by email); however, my impression was that it leaned more towards the US. If this is the case, the "new" AAI will benefit those who inhabit the rest of the planet.
